Porth Enys self-catering holiday cottage, St Ives, Cornwall, is a Grade II listed,
Georgian, terraced family cottage. Nearly 180 years old, the cottage retains many original features,
is extremely comfortable, full of character, and has a light, airy, and
very friendly
atmosphere in which to enjoy your St Ives holiday. There
is on-site parking for up to three cars. Click on the View Accommodation link
above to explore the cottage.
The cottage
is situated on the The Terrace. Access
to the town centre takes literally just a few seconds, and does not involve
any serious hill climbing.
All St. Ives' marvellous beaches
are within easy walking distance. Porthminster family beach is
the closest, being just below the railway station, whilst Porthmeor
surfing beach is but a short walk across the town. The harbour,
with it's many colourful boats and constant activity, is only a few minutes
away. St. Ives' railway and bus stations are both close to hand making the
cottage an ideal base for a walking holiday. Since the town centre is so close, all
the restaurants, pubs, shops, etc., are very convenient to
your holiday cottage. The Tate Gallery, and the Barbara Hepworth and Town Museums
are only a little further away, as is the leisure suite and swimming pool.
Views of the whole of St. Ives Bay, and
elevated views over the whole of the harbour, can also be had by
walking 50 yards to the Malakoff. This is a great spot to watch any of the
firework displays held in the harbour.
St Ives is a
great centre from which to explore West Cornwall. 40 minutes in the car
will take you to Lands End past Zennor, Cape Cornwall and Botallack where
part of the 1970s
and 2015
series of Poldark were filmed. The Lizard can be reached in about the same
time and you can explore the beaches - Poldhu Cove, Kynance Cove, or
Dollar(another Poldark 2015 location) and Church Coves at Gunwalloe - or
the villages such as Coverack, Helford, Porthallow, or Cadgwith. A little
longer in the car will get you to Port Isaac, the home of Doc Martin, or
to the Eden Project. There are a number of National Trust properties and
other attractions to visit - Trerice and Godolphin Houses, Glendurgan, and
Tregwainton Gardens, Trelissick, and Flambards with attractions for all
ages.
